GPA Calculator

Calculate your weighted GPA from any list of courses, grades, and credit hours.

What it means

About this calculator.

How weighted GPA works

Each grade maps to a number (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, etc.). Multiply each grade by its credit hours to get "quality points," sum them, and divide by total credit hours. A 3-credit A and a 1-credit C average to 3.50, not 3.00 — credits matter.

Plus / minus grades

Most colleges use a 4.0 + / − scale: A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B− = 2.7, and so on. A flat A and A+ both equal 4.0 at most institutions. Some use a 4.33 scale that treats A+ as 4.3 — check your registrar's policy.

FAQ

Questions people usually have.

How do I figure cumulative GPA across semesters?

List every course from every semester in this calculator. Cumulative GPA is just one big weighted average of every credit you've earned.

Do P/F or audit courses count?

No. Pass/fail and audit courses don't earn quality points and usually don't move your GPA. Omit them from this list.
