Discount Calculator

Find the sale price after a discount and see how much you save.

What it means

About this calculator.

Stacked discounts and coupons

Need to combine a percent-off coupon with a store sale? Apply them one at a time — discount 1 on the original, then discount 2 on that reduced price. Multiplicative discounts always come out less than the sum of their percentages.

Watch for sales tax

This calculator gives the pre-tax sale price. Add your local sales tax to that number for the final out-the-door price.

FAQ

Questions people usually have.

How do I calculate a stacked discount like 20% off + 10% off?

Calculate the first discount on the original, then apply the second discount to the result. 20% off then 10% off is NOT 30% off — it's 28% off (0.80 × 0.90 = 0.72 of the original).

What's the formula?

Sale price = original × (1 − discount). Example: $89.99 at 30% off = $89.99 × 0.70 = $62.99.
